Requirements

To make sure that the final PSS will function as intended we set up requirements both for the product and the service. In addition, we have established wishes that are not necessarily needed to be achieved at this stage of the development and are not crucial for the service to function. They can be set up as a future add-on for the PSS and thus whey will require further elaboration. With the help of those requirements, we kept track during the design process in what direction the product should be changed. The final result of this process is a product that can meet all of the set requirements. A challenge was to establish the requirements for the service, since it is not a physical product it could easily meet every requirement by adding or removing options from the service. The challenge was to establish such requirements that the service is cohesive with the product, creating a fitting PSS.

As mentioned, the wishes that were established are for future features of the service however, some wishes are required before the PSS is able to be used to its fullest. An example of that is the wish of having a fully functional app, even though the app is not required to do gardening it provides additional functionality that can be useful at the start of gardening. Due to the short span of this project, we could not develop a fully functional app though we have a mock up app with the design and the functionalities that we would like the fully developed app to include.

Requirements

 

The Product

  • Must be reusable, could be used multiple times (10years)

  • Must function in- and outdoors

  • Easy to maintain 

    • means: general maintenance should be done within 30min per module

    • Should be cleanable

  • Should be sustainable, this is bare minimum

    • Don't mix materials, keep them separable

  • Can measure humidity-% of the soil

  • Can dispose of excessive amounts of water

  • Access to electricity 

  • Water indicator light

  • Should not collapse (be able to support a weight of at least 300kg (80cm square unit)

  • Should have a safety factor of at least 2

  • Should provide seating

 

Wishes for the product

  • Addons

    • Growing Lights, smaller modules, plant climbers.

  • Should provide familiar experiences

  • Fully functional app

 

Safety

  • No exposed cables/covered

  • No sharp edges

  • Ergonomic for elderly users

  • Accessible for wheelchair users

The Service

  • The chat function is available during work hours (9.00-18.00)

    • Average resolve time within 30-45minutes

  • Seeds and other consumables should always be in stock.

    • The amount of seeds provided depends on the number of modules taken.

  • Seeds can be ordered from the website.

  • Maintenance should be provided twice a year, meetings can be scheduled on the website.

    • Additional maintenance can be requested

      • The maintenance should be done within 1 workweek

  • Initial/take in meetings should be done within 1 workday.

    • Our company will help the elderly home have the optimal garden according to their wishes

  • European standards regarding privacy need to be upheld

  • Instalment of the garden will take 1 to 2 workdays.

  • We need to rent a warehouse that stores our inventory and spare parts.

  • When the service ends we will come and dismantle the garden and we will take it with us and store it in the warehouse.

 

Whishes for the app

  • Simulated environment where the elderly home can see the layout of the garden.

  • The garden is suitable for horticultural therapy
